Tom and Jackie Brokamp, owners of Lovingston Café in the village of Lovingston, said goodbye to their restaurant on New Year’s Eve 2018 after 25 years in operation.

They announced plans to sell in July 2018, and five months later they not only found a buyer but a buyer who wants to continue Lovingston Café just the way it is. Luckily for Lovingston residents who have grown accustomed to the eatery being a part of the community for the past two and a half decades, the new buyers — Victoria Bellflower, Tucker Graham, Tony Honeycutt and Jackie Wells — have every intention of keeping the Lovingston Café essentially the same, including the name.

“It’s been tough to leave, but very happy. We are so happy we are leaving it with good ideas and in good hands,” Jackie said.

The new owners plan on keeping the layout essentially the same, keeping the same staff on board and possibly trimming down the menu.

Honeycutt said their biggest plan involves revitalizing the bar using their prior experience to bring it back to its former glory when the place was packed with local regulars.

“We really don’t want to change the restaurant too much. Maybe just freshen it up a bit,” Honeycutt said.

Jackie and Tom will be helping to operate the restaurant during the transition phase to the new owners.

In the future, there is plans to open for breakfast, so stay tuned for that important announcement in the coming months.

We would like to wish Tom & Jackie the best of luck in the future endeavors, as well as much success to the new owners of Lovingston Cafe.

More than two years after the Lovingston Health and Rehabilitation Center closed in Nelson County, Town Creek Assisted Living Center is bringing assisted living services back to the county.

Region Ten, which provides a variety of behavioral health and developmental services, turned the health and rehab center into the Town Creek Assisted Living Center in Lovingston to house individuals 18 and older who need help with daily living activities but want to remain as independent as possible.

The Lovingston Health and Rehabilitation Center served as a nursing home at 393 Front St. in Lovingston before closing in early 2016 with residents relocating to Albemarle County. Town Creek is the only assisted living facility in Nelson County, with the nearest assisted living facilities located in Amherst County and Charlottesville.
